'Captain America: The First Avenger' Movie is the Fantasy Version of World War II [Review] - ComicsAlliance | Comic book culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

To call the 2011 Captain America the live-action adaption of the character ever is an understatement! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I suggest that the following two reviews because they are fun to read. I thought that they nailed who Captain America is perfectly. His humility, nobility, and abilities. In the Comics, Steve Rogers was also an artist and they showed that talent in the movie. Amazing.

Tron: Legacy -- Prepare To Be Rezzed - G4tv.com

To be fair, I have not seen Tron Legacy yet but I really hope to see it in 3D soon. I like the following review from G4TV but to be honest it has too many spoilers to read all of it now. But it's a good read after you see the movie because it gives a lot for great information and perspectives on the Franchise.

ComicsAlliance Recaps 'Smallville' Episode 10.7: Ambush - ComicsAlliance | Comics culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

Comics Alliance has posted a pretty good review of the latest Smallville episode from last Friday. By and large I agree with the review in that I did not like it very much. There was one scene that I did like from the episode. See it on the left.

ComicsAlliance Recaps 'Smallville' Episode 10.2: Shield - ComicsAlliance | Comics culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

SmallvilleImage via Wikipedia
Comics Alliance has been reviewing the last season of Smallville. Episode 2 was just shown last Friday. I happened to see it myself and I think most of the comments in the article are spot-on. I however disagree that showing Deadshot shoot a bullet up the tail pipe of a car was stupid. I liked the effect.

What I did not like was the final shot of the episode!

Would they please put Clark in the costume already! I hate this one.  That and I think Neitchze was given way too much credit as good source for advice!

'Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions' is the Spider-Game You've Been Waiting For [Review] - ComicsAlliance | Comics culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

Yup, I think I want to get this game soon
The game's voice acting is also worth noting. Neil Patrick Harris, voice of Spider-Man in the vastly underrated MTV "Spider-Man" cartoon, provides the voice of the Amazing Spider-Man. Dan Gilvezan voices Spider-Man 2099, and he's come a long way since "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" in the '80s. Josh Keaton voiced Spider-Man on the recent "Spectacular Spider-Man" cartoon puts the role of Ultimate Spider-Man on his shoulders, and Christopher Barnes, Spider-Man in the '90s cartoon series, voices Spider-Man Noir. It's very cool to hear all these familiar voices again, and it lends some real weight to this being a true Spider-Man game, something that the creators involved cared about producing, rather than something dashed off to fulfill a contract.

Heroes Season 4 Episode 18 "Brave New World"

Well Season 4 is over and Sylar is a good guy???! I admit I did not see that coming. I liked the fight between Samuel and Peter. It was cool. I felt bad that Hiro and Charlie can't be together.  And I thought that was really a bad start for Season 5; volume 6. I mean why can't Claire listen to her father. See what I mean below.

Black Panther Animated - Review

I wanted to write a review for the first 6 episodes of the Black Panther Animated Series. I liked it. Very, very much. I must admit the animation was more akin to a motion comic instead of a film. However, I like motion comics. My complaints are few. Let's start with what I liked:

1. The story - it was Reginald Hudlin's first story arc in writing the comic - which is a great jumping on point if you iknow nothing about the character and his world.
2. The voice cast was awesome. I think Jill Scott played the best Storm...ever.
3. The political subtext and the insights into racism and class was awesome. It was very intelligent and cool! If the United States could recycle dead soldiers,  I think they would.
4. The historical backdrops for the story was great. I like the idea of at the end a black president has to call the Black Panther to try to smooth things over.
5. I like the foreshadowing of Black Panther and Storm's marriage.
6. The music was great!
7. I think they should just continue following Hudlin's run on the book.
8 Captain America having his a....um shield handed to him by T'Challa's great-grandfather.
9. I love John Romita Jr's art!

Now for the bad news. I do not like
1. There are only six episodes for a whole season?!!!!? What is that?
2. Why in the world did it come on in Australia and not here in the States?!
3. I did not like the Juggernaut's characterization.  He seemed way too stupid.

What I like about Black Panther is that he is a black superhero that is truly African. The nation he represent is fictional but it my ideal country - technologically advanced, never invades anyone, 10 steps ahead of everyone else, and has never ever been conquered. It's as dream...especially for an African American. I mean who would not want to be from Wakanda? No one goes hungry or sick. Aside for the religious issues, it's almost my dream of the perfect country - a utopia. I also can't say enough about the commentaries made on the corruptness of Western Civilization. And the characterization of the American government using a dictator who persecutes his own people against his neighbor in an effort to destablize it and obtain control of it - that's fiction right? Wrong.  Just ask real-life South American, Central American, Carribean, African, and Asian nations. Remember South Korea right?

As for seeing them in the US, they have been pulled off of YouTube. I'm planning to find out when it's going to be freely available in the States..

Heroes Season 4; Episode 16 "The Art of Deception" - Review

Well, this week's Heroes had some good points and some bad points. First the good.
1. Samuel having his main rival for leadership assassinated and himself almost killed while making Noah Bennet the scapegoat was clever and very good impersonation of Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars
2. Matt Parkman defeating Sylar - Priceless.

Now the bad.
1. Since Sylar can absorb the powers of others without killing them, why didn't he just copy Matt's powers and supress his own powers?
2. Claire hasn't seemed to learn anything the past 4 years.
3. Peter still doesn't have his full powers back.
4. I think making Claire fall in love with her room mate is inconsistent with the rest of her character.  I mean all of a sudden, she likes girls?
5. I think Peter should take Sylar's powers instead of freeing him from that Prison Matt put him in.
6. Matt's wife was way too calm fo the situations her family was in...not too believable.

The show is salvageable. Personally, bringing Peter back to full power and having him really fight Sylar would make me happy.

Heroes Season 4; Episode 15 "Pass/Fail" - Review

Yes, I did see this week's Heroes episode. I was disappointed. I mean why would Claire become a lesbian all of a sudden. It seems to come out of no where. Kind of like Willow in the Buffy television series. Also, I don't see how Sylar having abilities is forcing him to kill people. I mean he should just stop. I also was not surprised to see Samuel go off the deep end when Vanessa rejected him. Big surprise. The only thing  I liked was Hiro's subplot facing his greatest enemy and coming to terms with decisions in his life. Seeing his mother again was cool - unexplained but I'll go with it and also the resolution of Hiro's tumor. I think Heroes may have "jumped the shark" . The one thing that can bring it back for me is if Peter gets all of his powers back. He should take them from Sylar. I'm going to continue giving the show a chance in the meantime.

Heroes Season 4 Episodes 12 and 13 Review

Last night, NBC aired 2hours of Heroes back-to-back

Episode 12: "Upon This Rock"
The first part was about Claire finding out that Samuel is not who she thought. But
I think she is tell leaning towards his vision but she does not entirely trust her. We finally pioked up with Hiro back in Japan. Good thing he had Ando to help him. He pieced together that at the carnival Hiro's mind was scrambled to keep him from stopping Samuel. but we still don't really know what Hiro is trying to do yet.

Episode 13: "Let It bleed"
Out of the two, the second part is my favorite one. We get to see many of the main characters come to grips with Nathan's death. I'm just glad they didn't all just get over it. Claire and Peter are also coming to grips wit the fact that Noah and Angela lied to them. Peter really was taking it hard. I aslo liked how we get to see how real ruthless and cunning Noah truly is. In many ways he is more dangerous than Sylar. Speaking of Sylar, he seems different. Could a lot of Nathan still be in him? Is that why he doesn't like killing anymore? A lot of questions. I sure wish, Peter would get back to gfulll power and can hold multiple powers at once again...or tone Sylar down.

Heroes Season 4; Season 5; Episode 11 "The Fifth Stage"

I really thought that Claire had matured to the point that she could tell when she is getting played, but the most frustrating things about the latest episode of Heroes was that she could not see Samuel for who he is - evil. The other thing that was done well, but i wish the show had taken a different direction was killing Nathan. I really like Nathan and I think it was a mistake to put him in Sylar's body and kill him. The thing that I liked most about the story was Peter kicking Sylar's behind. He was using the Haitian's power in ways i have never seen. I mean I did not know he could turn his power off and on. And Peter seemed to control what power was suppressed and what wasn't. I still think Peter should get back tyo the same lever of powers he had in seasons 1 and 2. Oh. And where did Hiro go!
