Chris Sims has written a very interesting article about Batman and the history in the comics of the character killing or not killing opponents. He is very insightful as always. I found myself agreeing with him.

...as far as I'm concerned, "Batman Does Not Kill" is one constant, immutable traits of the character, as much an inherent and necessary part of him as anything else. There are plenty of metatextual reasons for it -- ranging from the nature of the super-hero as something that appeals to children to the fact that if Batman actually killed the Joker, then we wouldn't get any more Joker stories and that would suck -- but there are also equally valid in-story reasons for it.

I really enjoyed this post. Chris makes great points that are so insightful. I agree with his assessment of Wolverine's rise to glory. He also answers great questions that people new to comics would ask.
