Plannned Cosplay Projects

Poster for Iron Man 2 featuring the War Machin...
Poster for Iron Man 2 featuring the War Machine armor (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
I have been really been impressed with the cosplay costumes I have seen pictures and videos from various conventions around the world. I've been wondering about how they were done. I have an interest in doing three perhaps four characters. I'm not sure if I will actually get around them, but I wanted to start the research in how to do it.

I'm interested in doing four costumes:

1. Halo Armor and prop weapon

Halo 4 PDO Help

2. Iron Man - including Electronic parts

3. War Machine

4. Clown Wars/Imperial trooper

Stormtrooper Armor Files

ghettoManga: Jim Rhodes stars in ongoing series Iron Man 2.0

I'm glad Samax posted this one. I'm not sure how I feel about Rhodey being in a book called Iron Man 2.0? Rhodey is his own man - not a derivative or Iron Man Lite. I think I might give it a chance.

Inside Target's Exclusive Iron Man 2 Blu-ray

Iron Man 2 comes out on DVD September 28. I was wondering where I should buy it and today news hit that tells me I need to get it from Target. In addition to the movie, the Blu-Ray will include the Comic Con 2010 footage for Captain America that I've been scouring the Internet for and coming up empty!
In addition the Target version will have:
·3D Lenticular cover image features the MACH-IV Iron Man suit
·Interior image is Target's exclusive image of Tony Stark's "Hall of Armor"
·The back of the case includes both Iron Man and War Machine
·Blu-ray-sized metal case, from MetalPak, holds all 3 discs
This very limited edition item is sure to sell out quickly, so ordering early at Target.com is the best way to make sure you own this in your collection.
Looks like I'm pre-ordering.

'Iron Man 2' Fan Takes War Machine Cosplay to the Next Level - ComicsAlliance | Comics culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

Some people have great talent for cosplay. This guy is one of them. An awesome job building War Machine armor. I want one.

Such is the case with Anthony Le's War Machine armor, which won "first place" and "best in show" at the Starfest 2010 Costume Contest. This guy's War Machine outfit, based on the character's "Iron Man 2" suit, allegedly took about one month and more than $4,000 to build (notice I said "allegedly", it's not like we saw this guy's receipts). Now before you all say, "wait, it's nice but it's not THAT impressive," let me explain. The eye slits of the helmet and the arc repulsor generator actually GLOW, the shoulder gun ACTUALLY SPINS and the helmet actually OPENS AND CLOSES with the push of a button just like in the movie. Seriously!

According to Popsci, "[Anthony Le] used thin, high-impact urethane for the armor, cutting it into plates and joining them with some 1,500 rivets and washers. He sculpted a clay helmet mold and then used a liquid resin mix to create the final product. But that was just cosmetic work. He also added a small servo motor that opens the faceplate, as in the movie, and built a gun out of pipes and a motor. LEDs in the eyes and chest-plate further add to the illusion."

Scarlett Johansson Spin Off Black Widow Movie Planned - ReelComix.com

Scarlett Johansson in January 2008Image via Wikipedia
hmmm....a Black Widow spin off? Yeah, I would not mind that. I'd go see it. I mean the Elektra spinoff from Daredevil was not bad, and I think an origin Black widow story would be great. I liked Scarlet Johansson in Iron Man 2. I disagree with the article there. The thing is I think there should be a War Machine spin-off not a Black Widow spin-off. Don Cheadle can carry a movie and I would love to see more of War Machine.

Brent Sprecher Reviews Iron Man 2

This is a great review of Iron Man 2. I have to agree with much of the review. The movie was awesome. I really enjoyed it. I had a great time watching it. I wish that it had been longer. I thought that it was paced well. The only thing is I wish that I could have seen more of Don Cheadle's character and seen more of his thoughts and motivations. I wonder if it is because of length and some scenes did not make the final cut. I really think the movie is worth seeing. You should see it even if you can't see it in IMAX.

War Machine Packs Some Serious Firepower In New 'Iron Man 2: The Video Game' Trailer - ComicsAlliance | Comics culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

Iron Man 2 will be released as a video game  May 4! I can't wait! One thing I'm really excited about is the fact that War Machine will be a playable character. I liked the first game for PS3 & PSP a lot and I don't understand why other people did not like them. I'm real excited about this!

Why James Rhodes Is Comics' Ideal Black Hero - iron man - io9

War MachineImage via Wikipedia
Here is an excellent article discussing and analyzing why War Machine is the best example of a black superhero based on stereotypes.

a. He's A Sidekick At Heart
b. He's A Replacement
c. He's "Edgy"
d. He's A Cyborg

I had mixed feelings about the article. While War Machine does fit the stereotypes as the article's author suggests, I see more in him than these four things. In the comics he has a standard...a code...that he lives by and he does not compromise them. Over the past 10 years most of the problems Iron Man has had has been because he compromised his principles although he thought he was working for the greater good. Rhodey, as War Machine, sticks to his principles no matter what it costs him. This is why I consider him a great hero.

ghettoManga: WWWMD: What Would War Machine Do?

I really like this post from ghettoManga and it has some quotes from Bob Layton who created the character James Rhodes - aka War Machine. I wish I could hear/see the whole interview. The information it contains illustrates why I believe Iron Man 2 will be great: just like the first one: The actors and the film makers want  to be true to the character and make sure that they are consistent with the source material! They are asking: given the story, WWWMD - What woud War Machine Do? I can't wait for this movie!

ghettoManga: Too Bad He can't Get Johnny Cochran

War Machine is one of my favorite fictional  characters. The  problem is that I have not been able to read the books in so long! I hope to get a digital comics subscription and hopefully they'll collect some of the stories into trade paperbacks! I have no idea how Rhodes was injured so badly he needed to become a cyborg. According the post from ghettoManga this looks like something I'd like to track down.
