TR Review: The New ThunderCats - Topless Robot

I remember the 1980's Thundercats but the new 2011 version is much better - infinitely better. Everything I didn't like about the original was fixed. If you haven't seen this...you should. Fridays at 8 pm on Cartoon Network!

ghettoManga: The Black Dynamite cartoon is coming August 8th! (sorta)

Samax has posted some info on the Black Dynamite animated series. Some information was announced at comic con 2011 this year but I'm wondering why Cartoon Network is being so cautious. They are releasing it as a web series first? I want a full series! Well it looks lik4e I'll have to wait another couple of weeks to see it.

(The New) ThunderCats Are Loose - Topless Robot

Thundercats will be coming back! Again. I admit that I never thought we would care about Thundercats almost 30 years later when I was watching them as a child. I really like the commentary on Topless Robot blog. I have to agree the blogger has a point.

Indeed. I think Panthro and Tygra look great, so no problems there. Honestly, Lion-O looks too anime even for me, and I ran a goddamn anime magazine for five years. However, Cheetara looks incredible, and will no doubt inspire a whole new generation of boys to have a deeply confusing and shameful attraction to furries. Really, that's as much as I hoped for from the new ThunderCats anyways. (Via ThunderCats Lair and Poe Ghostal)

The 'Gotham High' Animated Series that Never Was - ComicsAlliance | Comics culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

Many television series are proposed and few ever air. I'm glad this one failed to be made. The concept of Batman in high school, combined with teen aged incarnations of his rogues' gallery, is an interesting one. The main problem is that Bruce Wayne is supposed to traveling the world at that age - not going to Gotham high. Don't even get get me started on how out of place the Joker would be.

Politics in "Black Panther" Animated Series

I think the reason why the Black Panther animated series will not be broadcasted in the United States is  because it is "too controversial". Mustn't let black children think about history and culture and how empires were built in Africa and North America. You may or may not be aware of the Black Panther animated series that was supposed to be on BET in 2009 from a collaboration between Marvel Animation and BET. IT didn't happen but the show was shown in Australia (no idea why?) in 2010. What happened was that the shows were supposed to be available on iTunes. However it was pulled from there as well. So why ? Why won't they just broadcast it on  TV or make it available over the Internet or DVD? I think the answer may be found in the clip below. Recall that the Black Panther is king over a fictional sovereign nation, Wakanda. This clip sets up a flashback of what happened to his father who was assassinated to gain power of Wakanda. The scene shows the Black Panther's father, King T'Chaka, interacting with other nations at an international  economic summit.

Look at what T'Chaka says about the greed and acts of the western patterns. This is true. I think that stance against racism is unavoidable. It wasn't just that Wakanda was disliked they were hated because of their technology, ethics, and the fact that they are black. In real life we see this same reaction. Recall, the 2008 Presidential Election? People did not know how to relate to Obama, because like T'Chaka, he didn't meet the ideas of what a Black man should be like in their minds. I think that the telling the storjavascript:void(0)y in fiction also bring up what really happened in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and even today. The metaphor could be extended to black celebrities and how they become embroiled in scandals with white women. There is a lot there that could lead to much discussion and debate. But it seems like the powers that be in control over what get distributed is not ready for such discussions initiated by black artists like Denys Cowan, and Reggie Hudlin. It's sad to me. I've seen the whole series and anyone who hasn't is really missing something. For all I know, maybe Disney pulled the plug. I've been looking for an official announcement and have not found one yet explaining the situation.

Comic Riffs - The Interview: Ex-BET Chief Reg Hudlin of "Black Panther"

I heard much longer after the fact that Reginald Hudlin was no longer an executive at BET. I recently found this interview with Mr. Hudlin. I love it. He doesn't cover the reasons for his departure from BET but he does instead talk about the importance of Black Panther as a culture icon. The interview is from 2008 so it does not shed light on why the Black Panther Animated Series aired only in Australia and then released digitally. I've heard that it's been pulled from iTunes but I haven't checked that out myself. Something fishy is going on with how that show is being distributed.

The Super Hero Squad Show: Quest for the Infinity Sword! Vol. 1, arrives July 13! | Marvel.com News | Marvel.com

In honor of the first volume of the Super Hero Squad on DVD, here is an interview with Charlie Adler who does the voice of Dr. Doom. I'm excited about that. I've never heard Adler in an interview before this one. He has been the voice behind some of the best animated series of the past 30 years. The man is talented.

'Iron Man: Armored Adventures' Gets a Second Season on Nicktoons - ComicsAlliance | Comics culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

The good news Iron Man: Armored Adventures has been renewed for another 26 episodes. I don't get why it won't be out in September. It's scheduled for 2011. I think the series has turned out better than I thought. I just don't like the thought of Iron Man as a teenager. It didn't work in the Comics, but then it was teen Tony ripped from the past to replace his adult self who committed suicide after trying to destroy the Avengers because he was under Kang's control. Yeah, my feeling about an animated series focusing on Iron Man and his cast as teens are conflicted. I think it works better for Spider-man

Black Panther Animated Series S01 E03 | Free Animation Videos - Watch Animation Videos Online | Veoh

Here is the 3'rd episode of the Black Panther Animated Series. In this episode we get to see the Juggernaut and Batroc really insulting each other. It's really funny. But to me it was more funny in the original story with Rhino because I don't think that the Juggernaut is really that dumb. We also get to see how T'Challa's father was assassinated and why Klaw is cybernetically enhanced. This just shows how the show gets better and better!
