Post Black: Comic Justice - Interview with Marvel Comics Illustrator Shawn Martinbrough

Here is a great article I heard about from the Black Superhero Blog. It is an interview with artists Shawn Martinbrough. He is an African-American and a well sought-after artist that has drawn major characters for both Marvel and DC. I am amazed! He said that there are a few black artists and writers in the industry today. This was not the case in the late eighties. His experiences seem much better than for Christopher Priest. It is an excellent interview.

I was real happy to see this post on the Black SuperHero Blog. It brought back lots of memories. The series was awesome. I especially loved the opening title sequence. All the characters were memorable but Bulletproof was my favorite.

Black SuperHero Blog: Astrea

I don't remember Astrea! I'm so bummed. A  black female superhero on network TV and I can't remember?!  Okay, I have to cut myself a little slack because I was 3 yrs old at the time. However according to the link to this post she was part of a show that aired with Tarzan and the Super 7 which I do remember watching on CBS. I'm glad this was posted with a video. Of course I'm also glad they are going to release this stuff on DVD. It  may jog a memory.

TJ Holmes is Doing Some Voice Work!

Mr Holmes, is taking a break from CNN to do a main character in an animated film produced by African-Americans that will eventually be airing on BET!

[TJ] "'plays Lusafo, the leader of a group of village bullies. Lusafo is 'shaking down' Kasha, 'an amaZulu boy who was sold into slavery in Ottoman Egypt and has returned to the land of this birth.'"

Wow, Holmes is playing the bad guy. Here is rough-cut footage from the film. I think I will have to see this one.
