Wondercon 2010

Well, it's been a week since Wondercon 2010 and I miss it. I had a great time. I went to two of the three days. I took my daughter with me (pictured on the left with her new tribble!) on Friday and went with my friend on Saturday. The convention has gotten so big this year I was not able to go to everything. Fortunately through the magic of YouTube I can see some of things I missed. I got some great trade paperbacks and collections. I also was able to get 8 inch Iron Man and War Machine action figures. Here are some of my favorite videos from YouTube.

Here is another attendee's review!

Couple of Videos Taken April 29, 2009

April 29, 2009 was a big day. My son, Matthias, was born. Literally a few minutes after he was stabilized and pronounced healthy, my in-laws brought my daughter Makayla in to the room to see us. Always happy to be the center of attention, Makayla did a song a dance right in the labor and delivery room.

Here is our boy at 10 pounds and 4 ounces just as he had been weighted...counted...and found perfect! Matthias lives up to the meaning of his name: "Gift of God".

Powerpoint Tool Showcasing Makayla

Okay, I have found a really cool tool for sharing powerpoint presentation. You can present them online live. You can embed them in blog/website or convert them into YouTube videos. Best part: It's free. This is a powerpoint that Mitsouky put together of our daughter using pictures from the first few weeks of her life.

Makayla Dancing in the Car 2008

I have definitely realized that children really watch everything we do. A few month ago, Makayla, was allowed to sit in the front seat of the car while we were parked. She is never allowed to be there alone. I wanted to see what she would do. Well, at first she did what she sees me do. Then she stood up and danced.

Makayla Dancing At Home

Here is a video of my daughter Makayla dancing to one of her favorite songs. Funny thing is how I found out about how she liked that song. One Saturday, we were watching a bunch of DVDs. Then I happen to put the movie Sicko into the DVD player and this song was playing during the main menu! Makayla would not let me change it. She cried and through a fit if I picked up the remote. "No, Daddy, I want to dance!" is all she would say. So, I relented and let her dance. Funny thing is, I still haven't seen Sicko. Looks like I'll have to watch it when she sleeps. Not that I can't make her obey, just not worth the fight, especially given the way she light ups when she dances.

Juneteenth 2008

I just found this on the internet. I took my family to the Juneteenth celebration last year. While we were there, Makayla was dancing to the music and a few people noticed, including a photographer from the Vallejo Times-Herald. He interviewed Mitsouky and I briefly and took Makayla's picture. I thought that they were going to run it in the newspaper, but instead they posted it on their website coverage of the event. Makayla had a great time! Here is the link: http://extras.timesheraldonline.com/galleries/2008/062208a/pages/Juneteenth%2002.html

The Black Snob's "Cute Black Girls Are Everywhere, You Idiots" campaign

On Danielle Belton's blog, The Black Snob, she has alerted everyone to the reality that advertising companies are scrambling trying to find several black girls to model in the wake of the Obama family's popularity. Like her, I'm surprised that they think that there is a "shorage". I've got lots of relatives too. I meran there are black folks all over the planet. It's like they've never been to a playground. In case she is serious about sending them potential candidate's model, here is my suggestion: my two year-old daughter, Makayla, in a candid video. I'll send the picture on the right in an e-mail. I might even send a newer one later on.
