UPDATE: Mortal Kombat Trailer NOT Real! - G4tv.com

More information has been released about the footage of a new Mortal Kombat film that hit the Internet yesterday! It turns out that it's not a trailer for an existing movie in production. It's trailer for director Kevin Tancharoen taking the initiative to prove that he has what it takes to direct a new Mortal Kombat movie. All I can say to Warner Brothers or New Line (whoever owns the rights)  is this: hire these people and get out of their way!

G4TV had a quote from one of the actors in the video:

As one of the clip's stars Jeri ("Can Assimilate Me Any Day") Ryan tweeted:

"It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film. I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was. And I'm not sure how you can contact WB to push them to make it. But you guys are resourceful...! ;-)"
The test film was directed by an unlikely source in Kevin Tancharoen, who is known as a director of dance-related projects such as the recent remake of Fame and the TV series Dancelife. Choreography for those spectacular fight scenes were masterminded by Larnell Stovall, a stunt coordinator with a wealth of history on his resume, including the upcoming Green Lantern movie.

I love creator interviews. I like seeing how writers, artists, producers, and directors go about their craft. Jon Favreau never disappoints in an interview. You can tell he is very passionate and knowledgeable. Funny thing is that I thought that he was just an actor but he is far more than that. He has many talents. Here is more on him.
