Sound like the "Amazing Spider-Man" panel was nothing but awesome at this year's Comic Con. Andrew Garfield (who has been cast as Spider-Man) made an emotional speech to the crowd about how great Spider-man is and how much the character meant to him - wearing a Spider-Man costume. This is the kind of person I want playing the character!
And Rys Ifans was arrested for misdemeanor battery after allegedly shoving a female security guard.
According to The Wrap, who spoke with police after the incident:
Ifans, who smelled of alcohol, became irate when a member of his entourage was unable to enter the hall for lack of proper credentialing, police said. He shoved the guard, and was allowed to participate in the panel, but the guard subsequently made a citizen's arrest. "He was aggressive and belligerent," Lt. Andra Brown said of the Welsh actor. "He was... berating everyone from the security staff to the United States of America."
Ifans was released after being cited and must now pay a fine for the incident (or contest it) although The Wrap's police contact added that Ifans said "the U.S. sucks and he doesn't want to come back."
Do you know one of the reasons why the First Spider-man trilogy of films were successful?! They didn't mess up the costume!!!! What is this??!!! It reminds me of some of the possible costume designs I saw for the first movie. There is a reason they went with the classic look. I'm not happy.
Good news, well not really "good" as opposed to "bad". The commentary at Topless Robot is on target. I never minded the organic webshooters either. However, I did miss the drama from the comics when Spider-Man had be mindful or running out of web fluid.
Well the first photos of the new Spider-man and Captain America have hit the web. I'm not sure. I'm willing to give both a chance because Andrew Garfield's costume looks like it might have some battle damage. The thing about Captain America is I'm not sure if that is the final costume or not. I don't like the helmet but that can change.
It's been announced that the upcoming Spider-Manreboot has cast its MaryJane Watson. She will be played by Emma Stone. I admit I have no idea who she is but I'm willing to give her a chance!
Well, the news I've been waiting for finally hit. They have cast Spider-Man for new upcoming films: Andrew Garfield. At this you might ask, "Who! Why?" First, that's two questions not one one. And second, I said the same thing.
Garfield most recently worked with director David Fincher on the upcoming film "The Social Network." He previously starred for Spike Jonze on his robot love story "I’m Here," which premiered at Sundance this year. He plays the lead male opposite Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in Mark Romanek’s "Never Let Me Go," due for release later this year.
Other notable screen credits include Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus" playing opposite Christopher Plummer, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, Jude Law and the late Heath Ledger, Robert Redford’s "Lions For Lambs," where he starred alongside Redford, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep; Revolution Films’ “Red Riding Trilogy – 1974” directed by Julian Jarrold, where he lead a stellar cast including Rebecca Hall and David Morrissey, and his unforgettable portrayal of a young ex-con in John Crowley’s “Boy A,” for which he earned the best actor BAFTA in 2008.
Garfield’s career began in theatre and in 2006 his performances in “Beautiful Thing” (Sound Space/Kit Productions), “The Overwhelming,” and “Burn/Chatroom/Citizenship” (Royal National Theatre) won him the Milton Shulman Award for Outstanding Newcomer at the Evening Standard awards and the Jack Tinker Award for Most Promising Newcomer at the Critics Circle Theatre Awards. Other notable theatre credits include “Romeo and Juliet” (Manchester Royal Exchange) and “Kes” (Manchester Royal Exchange), for which he received the Most Promising Newcomer Award at the Manchester Evening News Awards 2004.
Of course this explains why I never heard of him. I sure hope these guys know what they are doing. I'm willing to give Garfield a chance. I thought that Michael Keaton, Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, and even Tobey were bad ideas. However, I was wrong. So, I'm going to sit back and wait for the 3D Spider-Man in 2012.
