We get another GI Joe Show! This one is supposed to bridge the gap between the 1980's series and the ultra-Adult Resolute from 2009. I can't wait to see it.
In case you didn't hear there was a recent GI Joe Convention...complete with people dressed up as the characters! Here are some more great pictures from Comics Alliance.
I just found out that the official GI JOE Convention will be held April 29 - May 2 2010 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. First, I wish I could go but I won't be going. 2nd Comics Alliance has just posted the press release teaser for the event and it is hilarious!
Beachead is one of my favorite characters from the GI Joe series. I often wondered what did he look like under his mask. I'm glad that they are actually releasing an action figure in which we actually see what he looks like. Now I wonder when they are going to do the same with Snake Eyes!
Last Week Comics Alliance posted some funny Valentine Cards based on GI Joe's 1980s incarnation. I like them so much I was sending them to my wife! She even seemed to like them. Funny! I posted the ones I liked best below.
I posted the complete video for this series, but now it's getting the DVD treatment complete with special feature! This mini-series, in many ways, is better than the live-action movie It blew me a way. It reminded me of characters I grew up with, but had a completely amazing Anime style and mature story telling (meaning off-the-chain violence). In other words, GI Joe done the way it would have been done today instead of the mid-1980s. I mean characters actually died. The action never stopped. I suggest that you see this if you can.
I saw GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra and it was much much better than I though it was going to be. I was actually impressed. I didn't think it could be pulled off properly but despite some problems I've got to admit it was fun. Although they aren't part of the story I'm used to one of my favorite parts was accelerator suits. That whole part - the chase through paris - was really awesome.
My most favorite part of the movie was Snake Eyes. No surprise there. He was fun to watch whenever he had screen time. I liked the way there were plenty of nods to anyone who was a fan of the 1980s Television show. My main problems with the story is the same ones I had when I was kid.
1. Why does Cobra Commander want to rule the world? 2. How does Cobra recruit its members? 3. Where does Cobra get it's funding...I mean "Wow"..just "wow".
We took our kids with us. My 3 year-old's favorite part was the ending theme music. She is still singing it.
