I realize it says that this is supposed to be out April 1, 2o12 but it better not be April Fool's gag.

Disney XD will launch Marvel Universe, a dedicated Marvel programming block, with the new series "Ultimate Spider-Man" as its centerpiece, on Sunday, April 1, it was announced today by Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena, California. Marvel Universe on Disney XD will be the ultimate place for fans to find exclusive Marvel content, including new animated short-form series, live-action interstitials and the series return of "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes!" The block will be home to Marvel's biggest superstars, such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America and many more to introduce dynamic stories of action, adventure and heroism to a whole new generation.

It turns out that the 20 micro-episodes that set up the series Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes are actually the first 5 episodes of the series! I like this! It's big. The Avengers don't deal with small things the stakes are always high!

'Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes' Cartoon Debuts October 20 - ComicsAlliance | Comics culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews

From Disney's official press release:

In the two-part series premiere, "The Breakout," Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and Wasp have defeated some of the most dangerous Super Villains on the planet. But when the Super Villain prison system mysteriously shuts down, chaos is unleashed on the world. Earth's Mightiest Heroes must now band together as the Avengers to protect the planet from the threats that no single Super Hero could face alone. Their first task is to try and stop Graviton, a being whose power dwarfs anything ever seen. He's after Nick Fury, but will destroy the world to get to him. Individually the heroes have no chance, but together they can make a difference.

The Disney XD premiere of "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" will be preceded by an ambitious rollout of supplemental content across multiple platforms. Twenty 5.5-minute "micro-episodes" have been created to introduce the Avengers to those who may be unfamiliar, and they will be released consecutively over 20 days exclusively on digital platforms including Disney XD's Avengers page, Marvel.com, MarvelKids.com and Disney XD Mobile.
