I was at Wondercon 2010 and Rob Liefield was at the panel covering X-Men and Deadpool. Liefield co-created Deadpool almost 20 years ago. I admit that back then I never thought Deadpool would ever be as popular as Wolverine and Spider-man but today we are poised for a Deadpool feature film staring Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool appeared in the animated
Hulk vs Wolverine last year and the character was also in
Wolverine: X-Men Origins. The Interesting thing is that Marvel Comics and Rob Liefield are just as surprised as I am. When asked how and when Deadpool because so popular? They couldn't answer the question. In this interesting post from Comics Alliance the history of the character is explored. Very interesting indeed.
