New Game: Afro-Samurai

I just found the trailer for the video game based on a short animated Series called Afro-Samurai. It is perhaps one of the most violent animated martial-art stories I have ever seen. It aired in America on Spike TV several months back. Fortunately the game is a lot less violent and bloody than the show. Also fortunate that Samuel L. Jackson reprises the same voice roles he did on the animated show. Here is the introduction for the game below.

Need to Test ASP.Net?

I have found a great web hosting site that allows you to sign up, maintain, and test websites for free. It's called ASP Spider dot Net. There are some limitations. But for most of those you can find a work-around. The best things about it is that you can test your ASP.Net code if you are a web developer. The worst thing about it is that your account is only good for 90 days at a time and then you have to reload your site and sign up for another account. Some things that I have found that you can't do include deleting files from the ASP.Net website. You can't ask for more than what the site offers for free.

I'm not sure if you have seen the "Chocolate Rain" video that have gone viral and been all over the web. Recently, an even funnier version of it has surfaced: "Chad Vader singing 'Chocolate Rain'". I've attached posted both video in the following playlist. It's all for fun!

Heroes Season 3: Episode 10

I saw the latest episode of Heroes. It's called The Eclipse Part 1. A lot of stuff happened. Lot of cliff hangers too.

1. When the Eclipse happened, everyone's power stopped working.
2. Elle shot Claire and she is really bad off because her power is not working.
3. Sylar and Elle were about to be shot by Noah Bennet. He had a sniper rifle aimed at them
4. Mohinder tried to walk away from Arthur. Arthur said no.
5. Tracy is on Arthur's side.
6. Peter and Nathan went to South America to bring the Haitian to help stop Arthur, but the Petrelli brothers, and the Haitian are powerless, stuck thousands of miles away, and at the mercy of the Haitian's brother, an escaped level 5 villain and I assume is also powerless, who is being backed by an army.
7. Without Daphne's powers, she is crippled.
8. Peter and the Haitian are going to have to rescue Nathan, and stop a Super villain, before they can stop Arthur

I'm really looking forward to what the next episode is going to be!

Lost Footage of Bruce Lee?

Well, most likely not. But when I first saw it, I was hoping that it was. It's cool. It's someone who looks like Bruce Lee playing ping pong with Nunchucks instead of a paddle! Real or staged or CGI? Well, it's being used to advertise the best Nokia cell phone that I have ever seen. I'd bet that it's not even available state-side yet, considering the commercial is not in English. What do you think? Reel footage or fake? I want to find out more about that phone too.

Voted for Obama? This Guy says "Repent!"

According to a report on CNN, Father Newman, a Catholic priest is telling his parishioners that because of Barack Obama's stance on Abortion, they should repent if they voted for him. Given that priest is white, I immediately thought that it was because Obama is black, but upon watching the report, I think that it is only because of Obama's view on abortion that Newman is calling for repentance. I totally disagree with Obama's views on abortion. I believe abortion is equivalent to murdering a human being because life begins at the millisecond of conception. However, I don't think it was wrong to vote for Obama because it did not matter who was going to be President, Obama or McCain, abortions are not going to abolished. Too many Americans don't see that abortion is murder. If we want to change that, we have to change people's minds and hearts to follow God, not elect John McCain as President.

First Cartoon with Sound

Walt Disney's Steamboat Willie is the first cartoon film ever released that included sound in 1928! It's got two major reasons why we should care about it after all this time. One, the historical merit is amazing. It's the first of it's kind. Without this film there would be no cartoons today...no Transformers. No Boondocks. No GI Joe. No Madagascar films. No Anime. No Bugs Bunny. No Sponge Bob. No Backyardigans. No Donald. No Goofy. I can't overstate how different the last 80 years would have been without this masterpiece of art. And two, its Mickey Mouse!

Heroes Season 3 Episode 9

Well, I just watched the ninth episode of Heroes and I'm blown away. It's called "It's Coming". Looks like Sylar decided to side with his father, Arthur Petreli, while Nathan and Peter have side with their mother, along with Daphne, Matt Parkman, and Claire. I wonder if Elle and Sylar are really on Arthur's side or not. What side will Hiro and Ando come down on. I'd assume they are going to back Angela. I like the way things are going. But I have a little trepidation concerning the next episode...It appears that they will loose their powers - everyone! I'm assuming that everyone will get their powers back because we are supposed to have season 4. I wanna see what happens next. The idea of a catalyst to complete the formula for empowering normal human is amazing. More amazing is the thought that secret is inside Claire!

You Can't Make this Stuff Up!!!!

I just saw a news reports on how a Turkish prisoner escaped a German prison recently by hiding in a freight box!!!! The guy is still at-large. The article I read this in, alludes to the fact that the first recorded instance of this idea being used is in the Metal Gear video game series. I myself have played this game and it's base on stealth. The main character sometimes hides in a freight box, and moves along slowly, to avoid detection! Cool concept. It's even fun to do in the game. I just never thought that such a thing could ever work in real life!!! Who knew?

Brave and the Bold: Episode 1

Well, I saw the first episode of The Brave and the Bold. I liked it. It was fun to watch. It was definitely geared to children, but it was still action packed. It was the least dark version of Batman done in a long time. It was not really scary at all but I was still entertained. I'm looking forward to seeing the next episode next week. Here is a clip:

Update: Suit of "Batman" Copyright

G4TV has reported on even more information in its article. I'm shocked.

1. The mayor of a town in Turkey called "Batman" wants to sue Warner Brothers for "stealing" the name "Batman".
2. Apparently the town took the name in 1955. (Batman began to be published in 1939)
3. Batman's mayor, Huseyin Kalkan (picture on the left), is bring the suit for copyright infringement.
4. This isn't the first time Kalkan has pulled this. In 2007, DC
comics settled a case with them for an "undisclosed" amount.
5. In February 2008, Kalkan was sentenced to 10 months in jail for "promoting terr
orism". Prosecutor speculate that Kalkan used the settlement money for terrorism support.
6. I don't get why DC caved....Batman had been around a long time before that t
own in Turkey
7. Why let Kalkan go to the well twice? Obviously, he is expecting some kind of windfall because The Dark Knight is going to gross way more than $1 million once all the DVD sales are added in.
8. If the Kalkan is supporting Terrorist, no way should we let Warner Brothers
or DC settle.
9. Kalkan has no case..if anything Batman, Turkey should be paying Warner Brothers.

New "Watchmen" Trailer

I'm really looking forward to the Watchmen movie next May. It is based on the work of a genius, Alan Moore. He wrote a graphic novel of the same name quite a while ago, about the early 1980's. It turned the ideas of what a "superhero" is. I never read the book because at the time it was published I was child and it's most definitely not for children. I think I may read it now that I'm grown. I'm looking forward to the movie because the director is the same director as 300, Zack Snyder. He promised to be faithful to source material. He was spot on in how he translated Frank Miller's work from comic book to screen in 300 so I think he will be able to do the same with Watchmen. Here is the latest trailer.

New Star Trek Trailer

Ok, I realize that it may make me a geek, but I love Star Trek. The whole franchise. Each and every series....all the movies...well except for Star Trek V - it sucked. I'm part of that generation that knew the original series only through re-runs. All my peers had someone in their early lives who made them watch Star Trek whether they wanted to or not - leading to them either detesting the show or becoming life long fans such as I. In my case it was my eldest brother. He's 16 years older than I and he plopped me in front of the TV to watch Star Trek with him as soon as I was able to sit up by myself. By the time I was 5 years old I had seen every single episode and could even quote lines from many episodes. I'd like to one day post a blog article about Star Trek, how it has affected my World View, society, and it's theology, but for now I just wanted to post the trailer for the new movie coming out next year. It's based on the original with an all-new cast.

On one hand, NBC has supported the show Heroes extremely well...especially in providing fun interactive content for the Internet. You can get interactive web comics that have voice overs, sound effects, and great art. They expand the story and sometimes feature characters that are not in the TV series. You can even download the stories as standard comic books. They are really well done and are released once a week. You can find all of this material at the official site.

Batman vs "Batman"

I just read on a blog, that there is a town in the nation of Turkey named Batman and they have filed suit against Warner Bros for using their name!? The only way this could fly is if that town has been around since before the year 1939, when Batman was first published. And if it was, then why sue now? I mean there have been thousands of comic books published, 6 major movies, and not to mention the dozens of animated series and video games and other merchandise and media that the character has appeared on and in. Why haven't they complained before now? I hope this gets thrown out. I wish this was joke.

I'd Call This"Terrorism"

This morning on James White's blog I heard about something that should receive national attention. On Sunday, November 9, 2008, some gay "activist" crashed a church meeting. Thirty people sat through a portion of the worship service and then in a pre-arranged and coordinated coup, disrupted the service. Dr White posted a link to an article reporting on the incident. This post includes a copy of a picture of the perpetrators. Here is an excerpt:

Prayer had just finished when men and women stood up in pockets across the congregation, on the main floor and in the balcony. "Jesus was gay," they shouted among other profanities and blasphemies as they rushed the stage. Some forced their way through rows of women and kids to try to hang a profane banner from the balcony while others began tossing fliers into the air. Two women made their way to the pulpit and began to kiss.

Their other props? I'll let them tell you in their own words... from another of their liberal blogs:

"(A) video camera, a megaphone, noise makers, condoms, glitter by the bucket load, confetti, pink fabric...yeh."

The video camera they put to good use as they attempted to provoke a violent reaction. The image of the pink-clad folks above is one of theirs, stating in a picture worth more than a thousand words the goals of the Michigan left.

I admit the article did seem to try to imply that the protesters were having sex publicly in the building or displaying used condoms, without really saying that they did it. Therefore I'd be willing to discount that part of the report. However, disrupting a church service...any church service...is a denial of rights as an American citizen. Apparently the protesters did not like the church's teachings concerning abortion and same-sex marriage. Two things stick out to me. One, This didn't happen in region of America known for liberal stunts. This was not San Francisco, Los Angeles, Berkeley, Las Vegas, Miami, or even New York. It took place in Lansing, Michigan!!!!! And, two, where do we draw the line between "protester" and "terrorist"? When you attack and disrupt a worship service, that's an act of terrorism. I mean do we burst into gay people's bed rooms and stop them in what they are doing? No. And we haven't the legal right, no matter how much we may disagree.

Although, I'm glad he lost the election,I've got to admit that John McCain has really surprised me as to how graciously he loses. Mirror's Edge: A Game Like No Other

I have just heard about a video game that is like none other I have ever seen. It's called Mirror's Edge. It's different because it's a first person action game that plays as 3D platformer! What that means is that you are running and jumping, flipping and diving - like the Tomb Raider series or Mario or Legend of Zelda - but in the first person perspective. You can't see your character's face unless you are looking at a reflective surface. You see the world and all the action from her point of view. Heroes Season 3: Episode 8

The 8th episode of the series is called "Villains". It aired last night, November 10th. I really liked it. Hiro, looked back into time using African mysticism, to find out what happened 1 year earlier. The episode's flashback are set before and during many events depicted in the series first season. That is what I liked most, seeing how some unexplained things in the first season actually took place.

1. We saw that Angela was cold towards her husband because she had tried to kill him because he tried to kill their son, Nathan.
2. Linderman was not pulling the strings in season 1, Arthur was.
3. Why was Angela so willing to go along with the plan to destroy New York. Did they mean for Peter to be the bomb?
4. I liked how the point was made that the train wreck where Claire saved the fireman was caused by Claire's mom, Meredith, and her brother trying to escape the company.
5. Sylar was going to give up killing people, but Bennet and Elle pushed him down the path he took.
6. Arthur is really evil.
7. At the end, did Arthur take Hiro's power.
8. The episode confused me as to what Arthur's powers are; I mean from the dialog he was reading and wiping minds...notably Angela's. So he can manipulate minds and steal powers! How do you stop a guy like that?
9. I would have liked to see how Meredith's brother was recaptured.
10. How did Arthur set up Pinehurst; did it only take him a year to do all of that?
11. Did what Arthur tell Sylar about how Angela tried to kill him as a baby true? I don't think so because considering the length she took to protect Nathan, I doubt that she would knowingly allow any harm to come to any of her children.
12. I was reminded of further questions. I'd like to know exactly what the Petrelli's and the other 1st generation "heroes" had planned for New York.
13. If Arthur killed Hiro, I will be very disappointed. I'd like to know if Arthur killed Hiro or just took his powers?

Here is a clip from the episode

Heroes: Destiny

While I was watching the latest and greatest episode of Heroes last night, I found out that the "Create Your Own Hero" contest is over and the new character is now being featured in a 5 part Webisode Series. You can access it from Heroes Official Site under Evolution. The character is named Saniago. Heroes the Series dot com has a great introduction to the series.

Santiago is twenty three. He is an only child, and lives with his mother in a poor part of Lima. He works as an auto mechanic, but has a burning desire to go out in the world and accomplish something that will make his mother truly proud.

Santiago lost his father years ago to the Peruvian civil war. He carries that loss in his heart, but has found solace in the teachings of the Catholic church. Santiago attends mass every Sunday, in a local cathedral which was built by the Spanish Conquistadors more than four hundred years ago.

One Sunday after service, he discovers that he’s indeed very special. During a weekly soccer match with friends, he gets the ball and as he turns towards the goal, something incredible happens. Looking down the field he suddenly sees everything as grid. Quickly scanning the other players, he sees all their possible maneuvers and blocks — determining the best way to make a goal. He has the power of accelerated probability. Not only that but he realizes he can run super fast! Combined, the two abilites make him unstoppable. He takes off, dodging every attempted block and scoring a goal as his friends look on, astonished.

Santiago immediately loves his powers and uses them to become the star of his soccer team. He believes his abilities are a gift from God though, and feels strongly they should only be used for good.

Beyonce wants to be "Wonder Woman"

Ok..that being said...I don't think Wonder Woman should be played by anyone other than a white woman because in all the source material Wonder Woman is white. If Beyonce wants to be a black superhero, she can play Storm in the next X-men or in a Storm solo movie. Halle Berry, love her though, is getting too old to play Storm. If they ever make a movie of Justice League she can be Vixen. I'd prefer this over changing Wonder Woman's race. Below: Vixen, Wonder Woman, Storm

Update: Robert Downey Jr's Comments on ReCast

I saw an article today at ReelComix.com that contained what Robert Downey, Jr thinks about the casting fiasco on Iron Man 2. As I have blogged earlier, Terrence Howard has been replaced by Don Cheadle to play James Rhodes/War Machine in Iron Man 2 and Avengers. Robert Downey Jr. plays Tony Stark/Iron Man. Here is what Robert Downey Jr said about the casting problem:

“It’s one of those situations where I still don’t quite know what
happened or why. Here’s what happens too: things happen and you wind up
commenting on them before you’ve actually talked to the people and it’s
in poor taste.”

I was glad to see him take the high road...not burning any bridges. Smart! You never know you will have to work with...or for....again. However, it does not answer any questions. I mean was Terrence Howard screwed or not? The story still isn't clear, but to summarize how I understand it from the article I have read:

The Studio is saying that Howard was paid more than anyone else on the first Iron Man because he signed on first (No idea how). They say that he was horrible to work with. They say that they weren't happy with his performance and had to cut and re-shoot a lot. They paired down his role in Iron Man 2 and offered him 50-80% less than what he earned in the first film and Howard said no. So they offered the role to Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2 and Avengers.

The problem is that no interview I have read can confirm that Howard did badly or that the Rhodes role was ever paired down. He got glowing reviews from nearly everyone connected to making Iron Man. Still sounds fishy. Howard himself said that he read about his firing in the trades like everyone else. I've not heard Jon Favreau weigh in on this at all. I know he is prepping the next movie so he is busy but I wanna know what happened because I was looking forward to seeing War Machine on the screen and I think Terrence can pull it off. The reason why the first movie worked was because Robert Downey Jr made Tony Stark believable as a genius who plays be his own rules and a man crazy enough to strap himself into a suit like that, fly around, and force people to not misuse his creations. In order for War Machine to work, you have to believe that James Rhodes is the kind of man who is so loyal and dedicated to protecting others that he is willing to risk putting that thing on. I believe Terrence Howard would....I'm not sure if Don Cheadle can sell it.

Two Glimpses Into the Future

Tuesday, November 4, 2008 gave us 2 glimpses into the future. First, we found out who the next President is: Barack H. Obama Jr! Second, we saw the next iteration of remote conferencing technology: Holographic News Correspondents! I was blown away to see Anderson Cooper of CNN interviewing Will.I.AM. Anderson was in New York. Will.I.Am. was in Chicago. It was a Full, free-standing hologram, interacting in real-time! They even showed the hologram from the rear. Will.I.Am even did a little dance at the beginning and ending of the interview. It was like the hologram of Princess Leia projected by R2D2 in Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope (1977,1997), only it wasn't blue. I thought it was a trick. But it seems that it was real. Also it turns out that they had used the technology earlier that day, when Wolf Blitzer interviewed Jessica Yellin. G4TV also reports that the very first time the technology has been used was in Australia:

This however, is not the first time this technology has been utilized. In May, Australian company Telstra "beamed" a hologram of its Chief Technology Officer from Melbourne to 460 miles away in Adelaide.

I scoured the Internet for about how the technology works. Gizmodo had the answer:

CNN's holographic election coverage is fancy pantsy, but how did they manage to send 3D 360 degree footage of virtual correspondent Jessica Yellin from Chicago all the way to the station's election center in NY? As Arthur C. Clarke says, Magic. A magic made possible from technology Vizrt and SportVu with the help of forty-four HD cameras and twenty computers. Here are the details.

On the subject's side:
• 35 HD cameras pointed at the subject in a ring
• Different cameras shoot at different angles (like the matrix), to transmit the entire body image
• The cameras are hooked up to the cameras in home base in NY, synchronizing the angles so perspective is right
• The system is set up in trailers outside Obama and McCain HQ
• Not only is it mechanical tracking via camera communication, there's infrared as well
• Correspondents see a 37-inch plasma where the return feed of the combined images are fed back to them. Useful for a misplaced hair or an unseemly boogar
• Twenty "computers" are crunching this data in order to make it usable

On the HQ side:
• Only used on two out of 40-something total camera feeds that CNN has
• Wolf Blitzer really loves it (or loves Jessica Yellin):

It's still Jessica Yellin and you look like Jessica Yellin and we know you are Jessica Yellin. I think a lot of people are nervous out there. All right, Jessica. You were a terrific hologram.

• The delay is either minimal, or we've gotten used to satellite delay that we don't even notice now
• An array of computers takes the crunched info feed from the subject's side in order to mesh it with the video from Wolf's side.
• Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the images are actually "projected" onto the floor of the CNN studio so that Wolf can actually talk to the person, you know, in a face to face. So it's not quite Star Wars just yet. Only after computers merge the video feeds together do you get a coherent hologram + person scenario

Here is a video of the system in action!!!

I want one of these!!!!

Heroes News: NBC Executives Have Erred

Well, the NBC executives have once again blundered. No, I'm not talking about the new Knight Rider TV series. I'm referring to firing Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb from their jobs as co-executive producers and writers on Heroes. The "powers" apparently are not happy that the show's ratings have slipped and the episodes have gone over budget. I'm not sure what they are talking about. Season 3 is better than the first two. I'm reall happy with it. What I'm not happy about is that there will be no new episode tonight. They are going to show the next episode next week. I think some genius thinks that an election-themed Saturday Night Live can draw more ratings. I'm thinking of skipping Saturday Night Live in protest (not that it will make a difference, but it is a matter of principle!) You can read more about this news from the Heroes Revealed website. I agree with the writer of the article, NBC is basically using Loeb and Alexander as scape goats instead of owning up to the mistakes that were made leading up to the writer's strike earlier this year.

Update: Terrence Howard and Iron Man 2

I just read on ReelComics.com and /Film more information about why Terrence Howard was not recast (read fired) as James Rhodes in Iron man 2. Marvel is saying that because Terrence was the first to sign on, he ended up being paid more than anyone else, but there is no explanation as to how this could happen. It was also reported that the director and producers were not satisfied with Howard's work on the first Iron Man. That does not make sense because I heard them say that all the actors were great. There was talk about scaling back the Rhodes role in the sequel and offering Howard 50%-80% less money than what he signed up for. No wonder he said "No." Even before the first movie came out they promised that if there was going to be sequel James Rhodes as War Machine would play a major role. It all sounds fishy to me. Apparently with Don Cheadle signed on, War Machine's back in a major way. Mr. Cheadle needs to watch his back because apparently Marvel Film execs did not get the memo that the civil rights legislation passed. It's not right to break contracts and just treat people that way. I think they could have worked harder to work something out with Terrence Howard. I'm not sure who to believe, but we are not getting the whole truth.

"The Brave and the Bold"

I just found out about a new series premiering on Cartoon Network on November 14, 2008 and it's called The Brave and the Bold. It's based on a comic book series of the same name that was published in the late 50's and 60's. It's been revived many times. The concept is always the same: an anthology series in which Batman teams up with other heroes to solve problems that neither character would be able to solve on their own. I saw a trailer on TV tonight and it looked great. Stylistically, the art in the series is a departure from all the ways Batman has been done throughout my life time. It harkens back to the art of famous comic book artist Dick Sprang. It looks really exciting. Newsarama.com has posted the following episode summaries of the first three episodes.

Friday, Nov. 14: "Rise of the Blue Beetle! " - Batman and Blue Beetle team up to save an alien race from Kanjar Ro.

Friday, Nov. 21: "Terror on Dinosaur Island! " - Batman and Plastic Man thwart Gorilla Grodd's plot to devolve humans into primates.

Friday, Nov. 28 :"Evil Under the Sea!" - Batman aids Aquaman as Ocean Master and Black Manta team up to assassinate him
