I came across this article from Comics Alliance and it shows that comics can be educational and historical. I know of George Wallace from American History. There is a comic book that was printed in 1960 that is a propaganda piece for his bid to become governor of Alabama. Yes it's propaganda, but it does show the power of comic books. Here is a great article I heard about from the Black Superhero Blog. It is an interview with artists Shawn Martinbrough. He is an African-American and a well sought-after artist that has drawn major characters for both Marvel and DC. I am amazed! He said that there are a few black artists and writers in the industry today. This was not the case in the late eighties. His experiences seem much better than for Christopher Priest.
