Danielle Belton's The Black Snob - The Snob Blog - Tyler Perry. 60 Minutes Interview. Discuss.

I admit that I think Tyler Perry is very blessed with talent and he has used his gifts to bless others. I do however think that although many Black Christians enjoy his work and opinion to the true lessons one can learn, we must not swallow the cyanide with the Kool Aid. By that I mean the Bible tells us that is wrong for men to dress like women and vice versa. We all find Madea hilarious but the Bible must be followed even if we don't see what is wrong the way God does. I'm afraid that Perry is in a box, although everyone of his non-Madea plays and movies are better than any things that had Madea on them, only the Madea plays seem to be commercially successful. I see three audiences. Black Americans go and enjoy all of his movies, white audiences support the Madea films (enjoy seeing black people act silly), and critics hate all of his films. Non-white critics don't understand the films, and black critics are asking for better art.
