Review - X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Last Thursday I finally saw Wolverine. I had a great time! It was very packed with action. However, it was skimpy on character development. I guess what else can we expect in about 97 minutes! I really, really liked the was Wolverine used his claws in the movie. IT was also plausible for why Logan cannot remember his past.I'm still not sure about the casting choice for Sabretooth: no continuity with the first movie. I liked Gambit and I liked Deadpool. I hope there will be a Gambit spinoff. I don't really like the way Deadpool was handled at the end. He's never had so many mutant powers. There were a lot of cameo characters like Quicksilver and Toad, but no time was spent on any of them.

The Spectacular Spider-Man: The Complete First Season
I just heard from ReelComix.com the specs for the Spectacular Spider-Man Season 1 DVD. I am very excited because the series is great. It's action packed and it really reminds me why I love Spider-man as a character.

This 16-year-old returns to school after an exciting summer of nabbing common criminals with his new found powers as “Spider-Man”. Now Peter Parker must conceal his real identity and deal with the multi-leveled pressures of teenage life, while, at the same time, battling bigger, badder super villians in the real world!

Animated Lead-in For Terminator:Salvation
Warner Brothers has become a master at milking us for more money by releasing animated short films to support their movies in the science fiction genre. It started with Matrix Reloaded and continues with Terminator:Salvation. What they're doing is unique. It's a series of animated short stories that take place before the start of the new Terminator film spotlighting one of the main supporting characters. The short stories are computer generated using video game technology! It's being distributed on ITunes but here is a short promotional video that give us a small taste!

ghettoManga: Required Reading...
The GhettoManga blog has passed on the announcement that DC Comics are bringing the Milestone Comics into the mainstream DC Universe. I think that this is a great idea because Milestone characters were largely Black and Latino. I want to give this a shot.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Deadpool Trailer
Okay, so here is another reason to get PS3: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to play the first game on Ps3, but I did want to. This sequel promises to be even better than the original - including a storyline based on 2006's Civil War storyline and includes even more characters like Deadpool. I found this information on Marvel.com.

A Must-See "Green Lantern" Fan Trailer
As you may already know there are couple of Green Lantern projects currently in development. One is going to be a direct-to-DVD animated movie. I think it drops in September. The other is a live-action movie. Making the rounds on the Internet right now is a fan-made "trailer" for a live-action movie. The author used his considerable skills and talent to edit together clips from other movies into what a well-made Green Lantern film should look like! Warner Brothers should hire this guy! It will take your breath your way.

Comic By Comic: So BatDick's back...
I heard of the miniseries called "Battle for the Cowl" which ran through the Batman comic books recently. I could not follow the stories myself but they tell the story of what happens when Bruce Wayne disappears and all his allies and enemies converge on Gotham City to either take advantage of his absence or take up the mantle. This post on the Comic By Comic blog summarizes the new status quo. I sure hope Bruce Wayne Returns soon.

S.M. Lockridge's Famous Message - "That's My King" (Full Audio)
A couple of weeks ago I posted a small post on SM Lockridge's message "That's My King". That post had a link to transcript and had videos where people took his message and set it to music and images. Powerful stuff. But no way near powerful as just hearing the message in its entirety. It's been 33 years and it still beckons everyone to bow the knew to our Lord and Master, Jesus. Lockridge asks two profound questions that each of us must answer about who Jesus is:
1. Do you know HIM?
2. Is HE your king?
In just under 7 minutes, Lockridge manages to share gospel, invite anyone listening to make Jesus their king and explains why we should make him Lord over us. Here is the original post I did and here is the message in full audio mp3 format.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
By now everyone knows that the Transformers are some of my favorite fictional characters. I liked the movie from 2007 a lot but I was there in the beginning. I played with the toys as a child and watched the cartoon and read the books. I studied their characters and I admit that back then I never thought that a "live-action" movie would ever be possible. My only complaint about the 2007 movie was that there wasn't enough deep characterizations for the Transformers themselves. Focus seemed to have been placed on the human characters. As a hard-core fan I would have appreciated more depth given to the Transformers. However, I got to admit that perhaps the mainstream audience would not be able identify with the robots. To be bankable, the movie had to appeal to more than just fans. Hopefully we'll see more of the Transformers themselves in the sequel because that is why I wanna go see it. All I can say is if the kill Optimus Prime I will protest.

Bernie Mac's Funeral
I know it has been a while since this happened, but I just found out the some of Bernie Mac's funeral is on YouTube. I wasn't able to go. I enjoyed the man's work and it would have been nice to have attended but this is the next best thing. There may be more clips on YouTube but these are the one's I'm most interested in.

Comic By Comic: I post this from time to time...
I don't blame the Comic By Comic blog from posting this from time to time. It's classic. One of the commenters ask:
Is it too much to hope for this kind of Looney Tune self-aware insanity in a DEADPOOL movie?
I hope it is not too much because I think Ryan Reynolds could more that pull it off.
Here is the panel in context:

Transformers 2 Writers Interviewed
New Deadpool Spinoff
Several blogs and news outlets have reported that due to the success of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that Twentieth Century Fox has green-lit a spin-off movie starring Deadpool. Personally, this comes as no surprise. I knew if the movie did well we would get sequels. I personally thought that Ryan Reynolds was a perfect fit to play Deadpool based on his performance in Blade:Trinity. I mean Deadpool is crazy - psychotic-type of crazy. If you have never seen him in the comic books, you can see what I mean form watch the Hulk vs Wolverine film from a couple of months back. The mugen character also matches the same characterization. I think Reynolds can carry a film. Read an article about the movie spin off at this link.

Priest Scandal
I read an article talking about a famous Roman Catholic priest caught fondling and caressing a woman on a Miami priest. Father Alberto Cutié was caught with a woman with both in bathing suit. Catholic priests take a vow of celibacy and so people are up in arms about his "inappropriate" behavior. This is why I don't think that the catholic priesthood is a good idea. If a man can't keep his hands off of a woman, he should marry her. If a woman wants a man she should marry him. Being alone does not make one closer to God.
Embedded video from CNN Video
Father Cutié did release the following statement:
"Before God -- full of love and mercy -- I ask for the forgiveness of those who may be hurt or saddened by my actions. Since I entered the seminary at the age of 18, the priesthood has brought me great joy. The commitment that I made to serve God will remain intact. I am grateful for the love and support I have received today from so many in our community, especially my parishioners and the supporters of the radio stations who have demonstrated great compassion and understanding toward me as a human being. I ask for your continued prayers and support."
9 Hottest Female SuperHeroes in Film
Here is a list of the nine most attractive female superheroes ever to appear on film compiled by ReelComix.com and I think the list is great. I can't think of any that was mixed except one: The Sil Spectre portrayed by Malin Akerman in Watchmen (pictured on the bottom). I'd also like to point out Halle Berry is on this list twice. What do you all think? If there is someone missing from the list please put her name in the comments. I thought i would also do my own poll. I'm not going to vote because my top choice is a the begging of the post.

Couple of Videos Taken April 29, 2009
April 29, 2009 was a big day. My son, Matthias, was born. Literally a few minutes after he was stabilized and pronounced healthy, my in-laws brought my daughter Makayla in to the room to see us. Always happy to be the center of attention, Makayla did a song a dance right in the labor and delivery room.
Here is our boy at 10 pounds and 4 ounces just as he had been weighted...counted...and found perfect! Matthias lives up to the meaning of his name: "Gift of God".

Condoleeza Rice Sets the Record Straight
Towards the end of the Bush Administration I had not heard much from Condolezza Rice in general or about the allegations of torture in particular. Yesterday a student, named Reyna Garcia, uploaded a video of YouTube she recorded of Condolezza Rice making an appearance as a guest speaker at Stanford. She answers a question posed by another student challenging the Bush Adminstration concerning torture. Here is the video.
Ms Reyna Garcia was also interviewed concerning the video. Here is what she had to say.
I think Rice took the question very personally. As if the student cursed her to her face. "Defensive" is an understatement. I can see why the Bush Administration seemed to keep her underwraps to keep her from being labeled as an "angry black woman". I'm not sure if I agree with her conclusions. I mean it seemed like to me what she said was "Well that depends on what torture means. No law or treaty was broken." She was not willing to call "water-boarding" torture, but I would. I think more human, but just as effective would be making them watching bad television and movies. Something like the the live-action Street Fighter films.

Hugh Jackman Interview
Actor Hugh Jackman recently did an interview concerning his starring role in Wolverine. I admit that I'm impressed. He has allowed more access by his fans and worked more closely with Marvel in public than any other actor starring in a Marvel film has done. I'm posting this because I enjoy creators of the fiction I enjoy talking about their work. Yes, it's a shameless plug for a movie, but I'm going to go see it anyway.
